Mannina Yettugalu - clay oxen

In the farming community of North Karnataka, during the Amavasya (no moon day) of Jheshta month of Hindu calendar (June-July in Gregorian calendar) clay oxen are made and worshiped. The day was known as Mannetina Amavasya.

Earlier the oxen by made at home. With changing times, people opted for ready-made ones like these being sold in Dharwad market.

I bought a pair and left it at my maternal uncle's home.
