The Apple of Sodom is wild plant with sticky white sap and a complex looking flower. In Kannada it's called Yekki Gida, and in Indian culture it's has an ancient cultural significance. These lovely flowers eventually turn into pods. Subsequently those pods release black seeds with silky hair which are carried away by wind.
Back in July 2009 I had a chance to see Yekki seeds being dispersed.

White yekki hoovu is offered to Lord Shiva and Lord Ganesh as it's considered as their favorite one and sacred one.
I have Yekki flower garland along with vermillion & turmeric powder on a termite hill. In the Hindu culture Yekki plant is sacred. Some people refuse to cut them down.
Yes bcos it is considered as Ganapati swaroopa that too white flowering plant.
