Siddeshwar, I am sure you must have seen 'May Flowers' in Dharwad... They are one specialty of Dharwad’s Flora & Fauna... I have not seen them even in Hubli.. They are Bulbous plant plants – it is dormant all the year and then with the first summer rain bright green leaves a few inches tall sprout out. Few more such summer rains in May (Oh miss those summer rains in and around Dharwad & Hubli :-( ) flower buds come out and within 2 days you will see that bright red globe smiling at you like a ball of fire… At least hundreds of them used to bloom in the KCD collage gardens… :-) - and God it was a sight to see.
Sachin, now I remember seeing the lovely May flower http://lifeathangarki.blogspot.com/2008/06/one-two-three-and-four.html. You are right about the time this flower blooms, these pictures were shot late May or early June 2008. I did not know its name back then.
Thunder storms in Dharwad is something I too enjoy ...memories of those days remain special for me right from my school days.
To be honest, I miss pre Y2k charm of Dharwad. It hurts to see the Dharwad loosing its unique identity.
