peacock flowers

During our Sunday morning bicycle rides towards Navaluru we pass through a locality where a part of the main street has bright and lively flowers swaying gently. It's a pretty sight.. green, red, pink.. colors of life. Once it occurred to Pushpa that it was the same flower she had worn in her hair at Medak fort. Another time, she plucked a bunch and planted them on her ear. A minute later as we sped on our bikes the flowers got blown away. Last Sunday, I stopped and plucked a couple of branches and brought them home and kept them in a vase filled with water. Here are the pretty little Peacock flowers, also called Pride of Barbados. This picture was on my Whatsapp status and a friend had mistaken them for Gulmohar. Indeed, Peacock flowers are somewhat like Gulmohar but not exactly the same. Also, peacock flower plant is a shrub and Gulhohar is a tree.
