remembering Lambretta scooter

Lambretta seen on Richmond Road, Bangalore | August 13, 2011
Dad's first scooter was a Lambretta too, probably bought some time 1974 or 1975, It was with us until 2004 or 2005. Yes it worked until its last days. Dad had many a trips from Badhravathi to Lakkavalli and Kemmangundi, for favourite weekend spots. It's long wheel-base and centrally mounted engine made it a stable scooter. The engine was smooth, so was the ride because of spring mounted front seat. The rider had plenty of leg room and the body was aerodynamic. It had a chassis hence it was a rugged vehicle. Lambretta, if I'm right is an Italian design, Personally, I liked Lambretta better than Vespa or Bajaj. I wish Lambretta scooter comes back to the market. Yes, classic design with a powerful but efficient engine. Hmmm automatic will be good for city use.

Combo of colours made it unique. Lambretta auto rickshaws are still there in Western ghat areas because of their power..
